The Event Centre

A brand new, purpose-built event venue and marine-based sports & community hub with unparalleled views over Auckland Harbour, the Centre includes event spaces capable of hosting events from 10 to 400 people.

Located on The Landing in Okahu Bay, it’s just a short 10-minute drive from the CBD and a vibrant destination for the whole community. With ample parking and dedicated private spaces, the state of the art Hyundai Marine Sports Centre is the perfect venue for your next event.

From short lunch meetings, team building afternoons on the water, to formal weddings and everything in between. The experienced team at HMSC are ready to make your next occasion a memorable one.

Te Kawau Room

The Te Kawau Room is a beautiful 360sqm room with panoramic views of the harbour and Rangitoto. Sliding glass doors the width of the room open on to a balcony, perfect for enjoying a gentle sea breeze and taking in spectacular scenery.

This ‘blank canvas’ room can be set up to suit any kind of event. From weddings to wakes, birthday parties, experiential launches, or even broadcast studios. The Te Kawau Room can do it all.

The room has two built-in bars that pay homage to the old Royal Akarana Yacht Club building and our experienced bar team will make sure a cold drink is always at hand for your guests.

Beverages are charged on consumption with a minimum spend required to open each bar in the Main Function Room. Specific beverages can be brought in on a case by case basis with a corkage charge.

We are proud to work with the Great Catering Company as our preferred caterer for the Main Function Room. Sample menus and prices will be provided on request.

Equipment including round tables, and stacking chairs are provided. Any specialty items may be ordered through HMSC Events at an additional cost or can be brought in for your event.

In-house AV in the Main Function Room includes two built-in projectors/screens, two LED screens above the bar, a small stage, lectern, and 4 x handheld wireless mics. An AV technician will be required if any additional equipment is needed. HMSC work with Edwards Sound to provide all additional AV & Staging requirements.

Evening events must finish by 12am, with all guests offsite by 12:30am latest.

Set-up & cleaning are included in the room fees. Security guards are available on request for an extra fee. Additional facility fees may be charged for any set-up or installation prior to the time and date of the event.

Okahu and Orakei Boardrooms

The Okahu and Orakei boardrooms, seating 12 and 14 guests are located on the second floor at opposite ends of the Main Function room.

Looking over Okahu Bay and Orakei Marina respectively, both rooms come with hi-speed wifi, LED screen with HDMI connection, white board and in-room tea, coffee and water facilities.

Catering to these rooms is exclusively provided by Akarana Eatery. Working lunches, morning and/or afternoon tea can be ordered in advance.

Boardrooms are available for $100 + GST per hour (min 3 hours), or $700 + GST per day (8 hours) and are available seven days a week, between 7am and 10pm.

Larger conferences of between 25 and 120 guests can book the main function room, which can be set up u-shape, classroom, cabaret or theatre style, with break out space for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.

The Main function room comes with a large projector / screen and wireless mics with sound system for conference presentations. The boardrooms can also be booked alongside the main function room for additional break out space.

Joyce Fisher Room

The Joyce Fisher Room, while primarily the programme classroom, can be booked for meetings, conferences or events of up to 50 guests. Opening onto the Akarana Eatery deck and astroturf, with easy access to the Eatery via sliding glass doors into the Bar area, this room is perfect for team building days, engagement parties, birthday parties and meetings. Room can be set up theatre, classroom or u-shape, and includes two LED screens, PA system and in-room wifi. Catering to this room is exclusively provided by Akarana Eatery.

The New Navigators Room is available for $150 per hour (min 3 hours) or $900 per day (8 hours). While not a private dining room, it can be booked in the Evening with a minimum Akarana Eatery spend of $1500. Evening and full day hires, include the sponsorship of one child through the New Navigators programme ($75).
