Special Events & Functions

The Main Function Room is a beautiful 360sqm room with panoramic views of the harbour and Rangitoto. Sliding glass doors the width of the room open on to a balcony, perfect for enjoying a gentle sea breeze and taking in spectacular scenery.

This ‘blank canvas’ room can be set up to suit any kind of event. From weddings to wakes, birthday parties, experiential launches, or even broadcast studios. The Main Function Room can do it all.

The room has two built-in bars that pay homage to the old Royal Akarana Yacht Club building and our experienced bar team will make sure a cold drink is always at hand for your guests.

Beverages are charged on consumption with a minimum spend required to open each bar in the Main Function Room. Specific beverages can be brought in on a case by case basis with a corkage charge.

We are proud to work with the Great Catering Company as our preferred caterer for the Main Function Room. Sample menus and prices will be provided on request.

Equipment including round tables, and stacking chairs are provided. Any specialty items may be ordered through HMSC Events at an additional cost or can be brought in for your event.

In-house AV in the Main Function Room includes two built-in projectors/screens, two LED screens above the bar, a small stage, lectern, and 4 x handheld wireless mics. An AV technician will be required if any additional equipment is needed. HMSC work with Edwards Sound to provide all additional AV & Staging requirements.

Evening events must finish by 12am, with all guests offsite by 12:30am latest.

Set-up & cleaning are included in the room fees. Security guards are available on request for an extra fee. Additional facility fees may be charged for any set-up or installation prior to the time and date of the event.
